Brakes work!

I received the braided lines from Tony Hart and got them installed. Bled the brake system and all is well except the brackets for the line that connects the left and right rear. You can see the two pictures with my hand holding them up against the bottom of the boot where they should be attached. A small bit of welding should fix that up. Bled the clutch again and the results were inconclusive. I believe the hydraulics are fine now, but the lever the slave attaches to on the transmission does not want to return to the engaged position, so there is no "push" against the slave cylinder and clutch pedal. I decided to test this theory by starting the car up and trying it. The engine was reluctant to fire up until I used some ether, but then it would only run for a second. I determined that the gas tank must be empty, however attempts to get the locking gas cap open failed utterly. I don't seem to be able to locate the proper key, even though I've opened it before. Now the Thanksgiving holidays are upon me, so I'll get back to it next week. So close to taking the first test drive, unless there is an internal problem with the clutch return spring.

Hi Ross. I came across your blog - very nice btw - as I have recently started my own blog. I thought I'd drop you a line to say I hope the resto is still underway. Looks like my car is the same colour as yours - Sapphire Blue? I look forward to checking in from time to time and see how you're getting on. If you're interested I'm at www.maddesthouse.wordpress.com
