Rear Drum Brakes

Just returned from a trip to Alaska and I have two days before the end of vacation, so I got a little time in on the Stag. The rear brakes have been dragging, so I decided to have a look. The driver's side drum came off with little effort, but the passenger side was another matter. Much banging with a rubber mallet yielded not a budge, so I called Bob. He advised I loosen the brake adjuster. "It's an auto-adjuster" I replied, so there is no nice little screw and cam device to turn and release pressure. The ridiculous instructions in the R.O.M. are shown below for any rocket scientists to decipher. The last suggestion he had, which...duh...I should have thought of, was to try a puller. Back to the garage. The big puller seemed impossible to fit into the inspection holes, so I tried my steering wheel puller instead (wimpy little thing). No luck. More banging with the rubber mallet. Finally, I got outside the box and figured out the only possible way the big puller could work, and it was a piece of cake. After I got the drum off, it appears that there is a purely mechanical problem with that side which I'll look at tomorrow...

New exhaust pix shown as promised...sounds as good as it looks!

Good Luck!!!
