Every 20-something guy should have these choices...what to drive today? |

The old Plym pulled my first Stag across the country |
I was first acquainted with the Triumph Stag http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Stag in the early 80's when my father owned a brown '73. I loved the sleek Italian lines and the comparitive rarity of this beautiful car. His was brown with a black interior and a four speed manual transmission (no overdrive). I tried to purchase a '72 model with automatic transmission in Pensacola, Florida, but the deal fell through. I eventually traded my father my Fiat X1/9 for his Stag, and used it to tow my Norton motorcycle to San Diego when I received orders from the Navy. I ordered a nifty half-top from England and had it painted to match the car after my radio was stolen by way of cutting through the soft top. I met my future wife in '85 and she enjoyed driving the car. When I received orders to Pensacola late that year, we moved the family and the cars, towing the Stag behind her '68 Plymouth. When I left the Navy, the Stag was sold in Pensacola b/c I could not afford to keep it up properly.
